Alternatives to Obtaining an Emergency Travel Document?

Obtaining an Emergency Passport from any EU Embassy in Malta

If you are a Czech citizen, the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Malta is able to issue an Emergency Passport. See procedure. Only available for Czech citizens, as there is no Czech Embassy in Malta.

However, there may be times when, as a Czech citizen you might not be able to obtain an Emergency Passport from the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic, since such a document can only be issued personally by the Honorary Consul and if he is unavailable, particularly if travelling overseas, then this option is not available.

In such a case, EU citizens visiting any country, are able to refer themselves to the Embassy of any EU State - not an Honorary Consulate. See the contact details of Embassies of EU Countries represented in Malta.

Please note that each country has its own procedures for the issuing of Emergency Travel Documents and you should enquire directly with them about their ability to issue an ETD and the requirements.

Other options for obtaining an Emergency Travel document could be handled through:

Please note that while EU Embassies are usually able to issue such Emergency Travel Documents, Honorary Consulate are unable to issue such documents to citizens of countries other than the one that they represent.
